From the Director

The first week has passed and my “Quarter Century Classes” did great. We loved seeing familiar faces returning and we welcomed a combination of siblings and new faces. All is going very well! Here are a few reminders as well as some things I forgot to mention at Orientation.

1.Class lists and calendars were handed out. Did you get these?

2. We love celebrating birthdays..send in a simple snack- the small cupcakes are great/ or something

that’s a favorite of your child. Please confirm with me when you’re going to do it so the birthday flag is

up! (their big treat is they don’t have to clean up that day.

3. Please call and leave a message if your child will be absent.

4. A very important request…please label all items with child’s name or initials. (backpack, lunchbox,

sweaters, jackets, snow pants)

5. Arrival and departure seems to be going very well. If the driveway is full, please turn around in

Fountain Park and line up at the side of Tinkham Road. My next door neighbor has asked for our

Cooperation by not blocking her mailbox as they have many special deliveries.

 6. Keep up the good work of waiting for the door to to be open at 9:00.

 7. Safety is very important so remember to have shoes that are appropriate for climbing equipment. (and our climbing tree)

 8. Make sure clothing is easy to pull down for toileting. Winter clothes/boots should be easy to manage.(with some help from us)

Mittens(gloves are hard!) should be waterproof.

 9. 3-Day Class has “Show & Tell” every Friday (unless notified) It will be posted on the website.

Check it out for this Friday.

10.Please discourage bringing toys to school. (we have plenty)

11.All notices/ monthly newsletter and photos will be posted on the web during the month. (you will be emailed when something is added)

(burchtree.org)

12.Please share any photos with us..they need to be put on a disc for Cathy to be able to add

them to the gallery.

 13. Last year was our first fundraiser and it really helped with school maintenance. Cathy is in

charge and will be emailing you all the information about the Yankee Candle fundraiser. The date will be Oct. 16-30th.

Our first week involved expanding activities based on our “first day story”. We’ve been going over some school rules, getting familiar with materials, and getting to know each other. After “Cats” and “Cars” we’ll be talking about Fall.

We see lots of happy smiles. For those of you in the 2-day, please be assured that your child is being cared for

if they come in upset. The second day was quiet by 9:10.

To reintroduce my great staff:

Mrs. Schabowski (Cathy)M thru F

Mrs. Knecht (Diane) Tues/Thurs

It was really kind of you to ask for a “wish list” of things I might need. You might see some things at a tag sale.

Right now, this is what I can think of:

Plastic riding cars for our outside ramp riding.

A whiteboard to put announcements on.

*please save any children’s shoe boxes (Valentine’s

Day)

I’ll keep thinking and post it in this section…
