SIBLING VISIT DAY
The 3-day children are welcome to bring older siblings for a day at Burch Tree. Usually it is held on a day when the public schools are closed- it didn’t work this year. Hamp/Wilb. does have a half day so your participation is up to you. It’s always a fun day and we look forward to our visitors. Just let me know who’s coming. Would anyone like to do a special snack?

VISION & HEARING SCREENING
This is done annually by the Wilbraham Women’s Club. Their service is greatly appreciated as we are able to discover any problems at an early age. You have all given me your permission slips so we’re set to go. If your child is absent that day, they do hold an open screening later in the month.

FIELDTRIP
Pioneer Gymnastics in East Longmeadow has offered an hour program of gross motor activities at their facility- it will be fun!
They do require you to sign a waiver giving permission for your child to participate- I’ll try emailing it but if it doesn’t work, I’ll hand them out next week. I must have a signed form in order for your child to participate. Thanks. Cost is $5.00 per child. Please dress appropriately for tumbling etc.. (no dresses)

WINTER WEATHER
A reminder-Burch Tree is closed if Hampden/Wilbraham schools are closed- Burch Tree is closed If there is a public school delay-Burch Tree opens at 10:00.
We have been enjoying playing in the snow and it should be around for some time. Please pack their winter things daily. We do not go out if it’s bitter cold. We do our gross motor activities other ways- dance, exercise and movement.
Please pack shoes or slippers so they don’t have to stay in boots all day. All this dressing is encouraging independence and self help-they’re doing great.

FUND RAISER
Thank you all again for your participation- it will especially help with all the snow plowing bills!

I hope you enjoyed our holiday programs- I was very proud of all of them! We’re enjoying a less hectic month and concentrating on books and stories and fingerplays. The work tasks relate to the stories and poems. They do reinforce some of the basic skills that you can review with them. (colors, shapes, counting, recall etc.)
Just a heads up for Valentine parties-the children do exchange valentines. Encourage the older children to sign their own names. The 3-dayers should address their envelopes with their friend’s names but the two dayers don’t put names on them. (easier to hand out) Parties are Thursday the 10th and Monday the 14th. I do need party snack makers.
Hope you all had a happy holiday and are enjoying a quieter routine. Even though winter has just begun, the time will continue to fly by and we’ll be talking about Spring. The children continue to grow in so many ways. They continue to be two great groups. (and the adults are great too!)
I am starting to register people for next year’s classes- if you know anyone who may be interested, please tell them to call for a visitation appointment.
